You Don't Need To Preach, Just Share
Because your one share can change someone's life forever.
Mark 16:15
And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’
Praise the Lord, my friend,
The above verse tells us that Jesus has commanded us to share the good news with more and more people.
And, each one of us eagerly wants to do that, but we often struggle to start those conversations, even when we get an opportunity.
We fear that it might not go well, or the other person might think that we’re trying to impose our beliefs on them.
That feeling is valid, my friend, but it shouldn’t be an excuse for not sharing the gospel.
Sharing the good news is basically your faith in action; hence, it should be practiced at all costs.
If it is hard for you to do it in person, please do it through social media.
And, nooo, I’m not telling you to create content, my friend.
It’s wonderful if you can, but just sharing content about the word of God works too.
You might be thinking:
But sharing content about the word of God doesn’t really work. Because only believers engage with it, and my non-believer friends will straightaway ignore it.
If you think that, please hold on and let me tell you a short story. (Might get long, so please bear with me 😅)
It is about me, my name is Prasad, and I come from a Buddhist background.
For most of my life, I didn’t really believe there was a God running this universe.
I never knew Jesus, nor His word.
But last year in October, I stumbled upon a sermon video shared by my online friend from Nepal while scrolling Facebook.
It was from her church’s recent Sunday service, and out of curiosity, I played it and watched till the end.
Next Sunday also, she shared her church’s sermon, and I stumbled upon it again and watched it.
The same story continued for several weeks, and soon my entire social media feed filled with animated Bible stories.
From the story of Moses parting the Red Sea, David defeating Goliath, and Noah building the ark, I learned about every story from the Bible.
Those stories made me more curious, and I started asking the questions I had to my friend.
She used to answer all my questions with some additional information from the Bible that used to make me more curious.
And, to feed that curiosity, I decided to read the Bible at the start of this year.
First, I started with the Gospel according to Matthew and then moved to Mark.
After finishing Mark, I felt that just reading might not be enough, and it would be good if I surround myself with people who are practicing what I’m trying to understand.
Hence, I searched for a nearby church on Google, and as per God’s plan, I found the Disciples Community Chruch.
I contacted Pastor Beson, and it was decided that I’ll be attending my first Sunday service on the 19th of Jan 2025.
But then I started feeling that I won’t be able to attend it because on the night of the 18th, I was having severe lower back pain.
I didn’t know what to do, but then I remembered something my friend told me.
She told me to always ask and pray to God for guidance, healing, strength, or anything I need.
Being a newbie, I didn’t know how to pray properly, so I just said, “Look, Jesus, tomorrow I’ll be attending a Sunday service for the first time but if this pain persists, then I won’t be able to so please do something about it.”
Within 2 minutes of saying that, my lower back pain vanished into thin air.
I attended the service, met some amazing people who feel like family now, got baptized in April, and here I am today writing this post to tell you about God’s works in my life.
All of this happened because somebody from a different country thought of just sharing a Sunday service video of their church on Facebook.
You can also become that somebody for someone, my friend.
1 Corinthians 3:6
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
Just share a verse, a sermon, a Bible story, anything you like with a belief that you’re sowing a seed, and leave the rest upon God.
My friend, you might be from a region that doesn’t allow you to preach openly on the streets or conduct a fellowship gathering, but let it not stop you.
Use social media and the power of your one share, and let’s reach more and more people with God’s goodness.
Ecclesiastes 11:6
Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed
And, don’t get discouraged if you don’t see the results right away or not at all, my friend.
Something that you shared years ago might have changed someone’s heart today.
Hence, have faith, and keep sharing, praying, and trusting the one who turned the persecutor Saul into the Apostle Paul.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
And, while sharing, please, don’t share the Gospel that talks more about prosperity and not the peace that Jesus has given us.
Unfortunately, social media is filled with content about, you’ll get this big of a house and this sports car after coming to Jesus.
Hence, let us take this burden to share the content that reflects the raw and true Gospel, the message of Jesus, and not materialism, and let it overshadow the misleading content.
Will you?
