Want to Walk Wisely?
Seek God and see the difference.
Praise the Lord, my friend,
We live in a world where every heart is constantly searching for something it believes will bring satisfaction.
Some look to wealth, imagining that financial abundance will provide security.
Others pursue honor, thinking recognition and status will bring fulfillment.
Many give themselves to the pursuit of possessions and comfort, believing that these things will answer the longing of their souls.
Yet the Word of God reveals that there is something far more valuable, something no treasure of this world can compare with.
That treasure is wisdom.
Proverbs 8:11
“For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.”
Proverbs 8:11 reminds us that wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing we could ever desire can compare with her.
Rubies were counted among the finest treasures of the ancient world, yet the Spirit of God says wisdom is greater still.
Why?
Because wisdom teaches us how to walk with God. It guides us in truth, guards us from sin, and helps us discern His will in every step of our lives.
The book of Proverbs says it again in chapter 3:
Proverbs 3:13-15
“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.”
My friend, the treasures of this world can provide comfort for a moment, but wisdom brings blessings that endure for eternity, because it aligns our hearts with the very purposes of God.
Hence, without wisdom, we can easily be swayed by what seems appealing but is empty in the end.
But when God gives us His wisdom, our hearts are anchored, and we start to see life differently.
We are able to choose the path that honors Him, even when it is not the easiest or most popular way.
But how do we get this wisdom?
James 1:5 gives us a clear and beautiful answer.
James 1:5
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
What an amazing promise this is, my friend.
God does not withhold wisdom from His children.
He pours it out on those who seek Him with a sincere heart.
We see this in the life of Solomon.
When the Lord appeared to him and invited him to ask for whatever he desired, Solomon did not ask for riches, long life, or victory over enemies.
Instead, as 2 Chronicles 1:10 records, he prayed:
2 Chronicles 1:10
“Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
Solomon asked for wisdom to fulfill the calling God had placed on his life.
And because his request pleased the Lord, he was granted wisdom beyond measure, along with blessings far greater than what he had not asked for.
This shows us that when we seek wisdom first, God delights to give us both wisdom and much more besides.
It is for this reason that Proverbs 4:7 urges us so strongly.
Proverbs 4:7
“The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”
And the New Testament shows us where this wisdom is fully revealed.
Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:17 that the Father would give His people the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so that they may know Him better.
Ephesians 1:17
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”
True wisdom is not found in human reasoning or worldly learning. It is found in Christ Himself, who is the wisdom of God revealed.
Therefore, let us seek Him above all.
Because as we pursue Christ, we gain the wisdom to walk faithfully, love deeply, and live in a way that honors God.
In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and in Him we will find all that our hearts truly need.
Lord, I pray for my friend reading this right now. Fill them with the Spirit of wisdom and revelation so they may know You more deeply.
Guide their steps, shape their desires, and give them discernment to walk in Your truth.
Let their life reflect Your light, and may they find lasting joy and strength in Christ, who is our wisdom.
In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
Praise God, my friend.
