The Christmas We All Know

And the part we often forget.

Praise the Lord, my friend,

Christmas is around the corner, and I’m really excited because it’s my first one.

As a non-believer, and coming from a small town in India, my idea of Christmas was mostly shaped by cartoons, shows, and movies.

For me, it was just a festival celebrated abroad in which you decorate a tree, receive gifts from Santa, and play with snow.

That was all I knew about it. I never knew why the day existed or who it was meant to point to.

Jesus was never part of the picture for me, because no one had ever shared that with me.

Now, after coming to faith, I am beginning to see that Christmas is connected to something much bigger than holidays, gifts, and celebrations.

It is about the arrival of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus, into this world.

And the Bible tells us that He will come again.

Not only that, but it also speaks about what will happen when Jesus returns.

1 Thessalonians 4:16

“For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.”

The Lord Himself will come down from heaven.

There will be a command and a trumpet call of God. This is how Scripture describes that day.

And, this return is part of the same story that began at Christmas.

Jesus came into the world, and He will come again.

Many people celebrate Christmas today without being aware of this.

They observe the day the way I once did, as a festival or a tradition.

And, for some, Jesus is often remembered as a child in a story or skit performed during Christmas programs, but not as the Lord who will return.

Luke 2:10

“I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”

My friend, there are many people observing Christmas around us who are still waiting to hear the truth behind it.

Some are curious, and some are simply watching from a distance, just as I once did, without knowing Jesus or why He came or why He will return.

The good news is meant to reach people like this, my friend.

So, let’s take this burden to share the good news with people around us this Christmas season.

Let’s invite someone for carols, share a verse or a content piece, pray for someone, or do anything faithfully that God puts in our hearts to sow that little seed of faith.

Along with sharing, let us be committed to living a set-apart life.

Because a life led by the Holy Spirit reflects Christ far beyond any program or word.

Let’s pray together

Lord Jesus, guide us this Christmas to share Your word with those around us.

Please, help us to keep You at the center of this season and to make it a true Christmas that honors You.

Give us courage to sow the seed wherever You lead us, and help us live set apart lives that reflect You in our words and actions.

As we wait for Your return, keep our hearts faithful and our lives pleasing to You. Amen.

Praise God, my friend,
