Living a Life That Honors God
Let your daily actions speak for your faith
1 Timothy 2:10
“but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.”
Praise the Lord, my friend,
The above verse tells us that true worship is not just about what we wear or how we look, but it is about what we do.
At first, when you read the verse, it might seem like this instruction is only for women, but it applies to all believers.
We know this because the Bible often tells us that God is concerned with our hearts and how we live, and not our outward appearances.
For example, in Romans 12:1, Paul tells all believers:
Romans 12:1
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. ”
See, that instruction of living a Godly life is given to everyone, not just women.
But how exactly do we live a life that truly worships and pleases God?
Is it about attending church every Sunday? Reading your Bible and remembering verses? Or living a life that is praised by your peers?
Ofc, all the above things are important and part of a believer’s faith journey, but they alone don’t define true worship.
True worship is choosing to follow God, being obedient to Him, even when it is hard and no one is looking at you.
For example, the choice you make to run away from sexual desire, to speak truth even when lying seems beneficial, or to forgive even when someone treats you harshly, these are all ways your heart worships God.
And, not only worship, but it also honors the name of our God, as it is said in 1 Corinthians 10:31:
1 Corinthians 10:31
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
My friend, the above verse makes it clear that everything we do, no matter how small, can honor God when it comes from a heart that seeks and wants to please Him first.
The decisions we make in faith may not always be appealing to the people around us, but God sees them, and He proudly smiles at us for making that decision.
Over time, by taking more and more such decisions in faith, our hearts transform, and we build a truly intimate relationship with our heavenly Father
And, you know what, the beauty of this transformation is that it spreads beyond just us.
When our lives show God’s love through our actions, it encourages others to notice His goodness, too.
The obedience, kindness, and integrity we show to others become a living example of His grace and goodness in this world, where most people aren’t aware of Him yet.
So, my friend, let us choose today to make our worship visible through our deeds.
Let us let God’s love shine through every part of our lives, because He is worthy of all honor, all glory, and all our praise.
And, if you find it difficult to do because of any reason, you can remember these words said by Pastor Jaison from our church during a sermon:
“God doesn’t need us, but He wants us.”
My friend, think about it, the creator of the Universe, who is self-sufficient to do anything on His own, yet He still chooses to want us.
Hence, we shouldn’t hold back from choosing Him every single day because we clearly need His presence in our lives.
Let’s pray together
Dear gracious heavenly father, thank You for loving us and inviting us into a relationship with You.
Lord, help our hearts to respond to Your love every day, and guide our thoughts, words, and actions so that they reflect Your goodness and grace.
Give us the strength to obey You, even when it is hard, and the courage to live in a way that honors You in every part of our lives.
May our lives be a testimony of Your love, and may others see You through the way we live. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Praise God.
