Is Your Faith Real?
Here's what scripture says about someone that keeps on sinning.
1 John 3:6
“No one who lives in Him keeps on sinning, No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him.”
Dear child of God,
The above verse can feel jarring because it leaves very little space for excuses.
It tells us that a life truly connected to Jesus cannot be content with patterns that offend him.
And that does not mean a believer never stumbles, because Scripture makes clear that everyone falls short.
However, there is a difference between failing and staying settled in the same sin without any conviction.
When someone’s heart has truly been made alive through Christ, they cannot continue in rebellion without a struggle taking place deep inside.
That restlessness, that sense of holy discomfort, is proof that God’s Spirit is working to change you from the inside out.
But if a person continues in sin without feeling convicted or drawn to change, then something essential is missing at the very core of their faith.
And, John does not say this to shame you, but to warn you and make you aware that knowing Jesus should disrupt your attachment to what is destructive.
It reshapes what you find satisfying and shifts your loyalty away from temporary pleasures and reorients you toward God’s priorities.
Living in him slowly begins to transform what you love, what you crave, and what you allow to remain in your life.
It forms a new “you.”
And, that’s exactly what Paul has also written to the Chruch of Corinth.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
You see, the meaning of change or new creation here is not about achieving perfection or checking off some lists of spiritual tasks.
But it’s about stepping into a new identity that God has already declared over you.
An identity that will still face temptation and will get called back by the old patterns, but they’ll no longer reign over it.
So, if you’re feeling weighed down by habits that keep resurfacing, do not let that drive you to despair.
Instead, let it push you to examine whether you are truly depending on Christ to help you fight, or if you have slipped into trying to manage sin on your own.
My friend, a changed heart cannot stay at peace with ongoing sin, even if the struggle is exhausting.
Hence, if you’ve faith, the Holy Spirit will keep pressing you toward holiness because God refuses to let his children remain trapped in what he has already overcome.
And, making lasting change takes time, and it can feel discouraging when you do not see instant results.
But do not mistake the slowness of progress for failure.
Instead, keep turning back to him, again and again, no matter how many times you have to stand back up.
Because that persistence, fueled by His Spirit, is what shows you really belong to Him.
Praise God.
