Choose Love, Choose Obedience

Real faith shows up in how we follow Him every day.

Deuteronomy 11:1

“Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws, and his commands always.”

Deuteronomy 11:1 is a clear command for us to love God and obey Him fully, consistently, and without excuse.

The verse doesn’t say, “when it’s convenient,” or “when you feel like it.” It says always.

That might feel heavy to hear. Because the truth is, obedience is often where we struggle most.

It’s easier to say we love God than to show it in the everyday choices that require sacrifice.

Whether it’s holding our tongue, staying honest when no one’s watching, or putting aside pride in relationships, obedience costs something.

But that’s the point, obedience shows what matters most to us, whether it is love of God or love for worldly desires.

Jesus has also said this plainly in the gospel of John:

John 14:15

“If you love me, keep my commands.”

Love and obedience walk hand in hand. Hence, we cannot have one without the other.

So what does this mean for us today? It means we shall examine our lives.

We should ask ourselves: Am I truly obeying God, or just claiming to love Him?

And, if we aren’t, then today is the day we start to deny ourselves and choose Him and His word over everything.

It might not feel easy, but it is worth it. Because it leads to life, peace, and our living God.

So, choose to start choosing Him and lift your cross daily. And, if you fail someday, know that He is always there waiting for you and He loves you.

Praise God.
